Be blessed

Study #15

So then, those who are people of faith are blessed and made happy and favoured by God [as partners in fellowship] with the believing and trusting Abraham.

Galatians 3:9

What does it mean to be blessed?

To be blessed is described, among other places, in the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5:3-12. Here are further possible meanings as translated from Greek and Hebrew:

  1. To be spiritually mature and prosperous.
  2. To be happy.
  3. To receive forgiveness.
  4. To be strengthened through God’s grace.
  5. To have inner peace.
  6. To be acquitted.
  7. To be respected.
  8. To be joyful, hopeful, and positive.
  9. To be aware of God’s love, faithfulness, goodness, and presence.
  10. To be content.
  11. To be able to live calmly, peacefully, and undisturbed.
  12. To be sure of God’s promises.
  13. To passionately love God, people, yourself, and life.

These are a few descriptions of what it means to be a blessed person in the Lord.

“May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!”

Ephesians 1:3

Conclusion

It brings joy to our heavenly Father to bless His children. Embrace this truth: “I am a blessed person in the Lord”.
