True worshippers

Study #34

What is worshipping?

It is to give expression to an intense love, respect, and awe for who our heavenly Father is.

23A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. 24God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).”

John 4:23-24

What does it mean to worship Him in Spirit and truth?

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:14 that people that do not have the Spirit of God will not be able to understand or discern the things of the Spirit. Therefore, to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, we must be filled with His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit then leads me in truth, therefore, to understand more of God – to appreciate Him, and to understand the extent of His salvation and love.

This Spirit truth then brings me to a place where I worship Him from my spirit, which responds to who He is, what He is, and the wonder of His being. It is now impossible to worship Him in any other way than through the Spirit that lives in me. Here in His presence I worship Him in truth, without ulterior motives, irrespective of what He does for me or doesn’t do for me. This is true worship

“[I do it because, though He slay me, yet will I wait for and trust Him…”

Job 13:15

These are the people God is looking for, those that truly love Him. Is it not the core of true love to love a person without reservations?

Conclusion

“…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind (intellect).”

Matthew 22:37

17Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation!”

Habakkuk 3:17-18
