Why should you get baptized?

  1. It is a biblical principle: “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” – Acts 2:38 ESV
  2. We follow the example of Jesus: “And when Jesus was baptized, immediately He went up from the water…” – Matt 3:16 ESV

Who should get baptized?

Those who believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of God. “Philip said, ‘If you believe with all your heart, you may.’ And He replied, ‘I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God.’” – Acts 3:37 ESV

When should you get baptized?

As soon as possible after being born again. It is a clear instruction and you do not need any deeper revelation. 

“Then he brought them out and said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’ And they spoke the word of the Lord to Him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.” – Acts 16:30-33 ESV

How do you get baptized?

The biblical baptism is done through immersion, and means to be totally “buried” under the water. The word used in Greek  is “Baptizo”, literally meaning, immersion.

Is it important to be baptized?

It is of utmost importance for a new-born believer to be baptized. Looking at all the above-mentioned reasons, it is not optional.

Baptism is part of God’s salvation plan, as seen under “Repentance and Salvation”.
